UCSF dental clinic offers free cleanings for “Give Kids a Smile Day”

WHAT:

The UCSF School of Dentistry will offer free cleanings, dental sealants and fluoride treatments as part of the citywide “Give Kids a Smile Day.”

Each child will receive a free toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. UCSF faculty, volunteer dentists and dental students will provide free dental screenings to satisfy the Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment Bill requirements, as well as free adult screenings with possible future dental care for qualified patients. Services will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Members of the media are invited to attend from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Saturday, February 7
Media: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Patients: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

WHY:

The day is part of a citywide effort to improve oral hygiene and awareness, especially for families with children. The UCSF School of Dentistry is widely regarded as one of the premier U.S. dental schools and is a national leader in addressing pediatric oral health issues, including efforts to reach traditionally underserved populations with high rates of pediatric dental caries.
