| Why: | Health challenges present one of the most formidable obstacles in sustainable global development. The ability of developing countries to address these challenges is severely limited by a paucity of skilled health care workers and by limited communications. Mobile communication offers an effective way to bridge that gap. An estimated 64 percent of the 4 billion mobile phone users worldwide now live in the developing world and by 2012, half of all people in the developing world will have a mobile phone. The concept of mHealth is to use that mobile technology to improve health worldwide.
