Laura Esserman, MD, MBA, the principal investigator for a national study beginning this fall, was featured in a front page New York Times story about the paucity of volunteers for clinical trials. Esserman’s trial, known as I-Spy, is designed to speed progress in the war on cancer and focuses on women who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer and at great risk of the cancer spreading in their bodies.
