Adam Boxer, MD, PhD, assistant professor of neurology and a member of the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, participated in a segment on the state of research on Alzheimer’s disease on the September 21 radio broadcast of KQED Forum with Michael Krasny. The segment, which also discussed steps people can take to try to combat the disease, was prompted by a newly released World Alzheimer Report citing that dementia prevalence worldwide will nearly double every 20 years. By 2050, it is expected to affect 115.4 million people. The UCSF Memory and Aging Center is a National Institutes of Health Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, a designation recognizing the Center’s integration of basic research, clinical research and patient care regarding all forms of dementia.
